Chief Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) comes to America after the daughter of the Chinese consul, who is a close friend, is kidnapped. Upon arrival at the embassy the local FBI on the case have other plans for Inspector Lee. Thinking that they can rid themselves of him by calling on James Carter (Chris Tucker) a pompous, outrageous detective with the LAPD. Telling Carter that he is on a special mission to keep Lee out of the way doesn't jive well with him though and before long Lee and Carter have joined forces to try and solve the kidnapping. The mysterious Juntao (Tom Wilkinson) is behind the disappearance and Lee and Carter are quickly embroiled in both high stakes and comic hi-jinks in the race to save the consul's daughter and expose Juntao. Will they survive 'Rush Hour'?
