In 1919, Mathilde (Audrey Tautou) has 19. Two years earlier, his husband to be Manech (Gaspard Ulliel) was gone at the front on la Somme battlefield. Like millions others, He died with honour. It is writing black on white in the official journal. But, Mathilde refused to admit the evidence. She investigated to find him as her last link to her lover. Even when an ex-sergeant toll her that Manech died in the no man's land near the trench Bingo Crepuscule with 4 other death sentence soldier for voluntary mutilation, she still believed he is alive. She pushes further to find what really happen over there.
