The story starts with Mrs. Bakshi who is set out to find the right match for her beautiful daughters. While they attend a lavish wedding party of one of their friends in town, among her four daughters, Lalita (played by Aishwarya Rai) determines that she would only marry for love, giving her mother nightmares. As the story passes between her other three daughters, Lalita meets a wealthy American - Will Darcy, and emotions get ignited between the two. The story goes between their love or hate, unable to define their emotions which is masked by their pride. Darcy treats Lalita as a Indian village beauty who knows nothing of the world and Darcy pretends to Lalita as an arrogant American. Lalita and Darcy get into a series of gossips, assumptions and misunderstandings... the way they break their pride and get into reality and make love their priority over pride and prejudice and unite in hormony.
