Chris Cole (Mark Wahlberg) works a dead end job and spends his nights as the lead singer of a tribute band for heavy metal band Steel Dragon. After internal struggles with his band members force him out of the band, Chris auditions to become the new lead singer of Steel Dragon. Fame, fortune, and women follow but so do pressure, conflict, and drugs. Chris is traveling constantly, which adds to the growing emotional distance between him and girlfriend Emily Poule (Jennifer Aniston). As time goes on, Chris must decide whether his glamorous lifestyle is worth the sacrifices he has had to make to have it.
