Arthur Kriticos (Tony Shalhoub), still recovering from the loss of his beloved wife, thinks he's finally had some good luck when he learns that his wealthy uncle Cyrus (F. Murray Abraham) has died and willed him a large estate. He and his children Kathy (Shannon Elizabeth), and Bobby (Alec Roberts), and Bobby’s nanny Maggie (Rah Digga) arrive to find a house unlike any other. The walls of the house are made of moving panels of glass, and every surface is engraved with strange markings. Dennis (Matthew Lillard) shows up, posing as an electrician but it soon becomes clear that he knows a dangerous secret about the house. The whole structure is, in actuality, a complex machine designed to hold the souls of the dead. The machine is activated, and every exit seals up. The luck becomes a nightmare, as the family, along with Dennis is trapped inside the machine, as the ghosts are released one by one. Scattered around the house there are special glasses that enable the family to see these malevolent spirits. The danger multiplies, and Cyrus might not be as dead as everyone thought he was...
